Just Bought 2001 Shabah 250 Have A Few Questions
Hi everyone. I just purchased a 2001 Shabah 250. It is in exceptional shape. It has the 6.2MPI with the Bravo 1 and a 21 pitch stainless prop. I put it in the lake today and it runs great. It seems that it gets up to 5k rpm pretty quickly. I am thinking about trying a steeper pitch prop, maybe a 23 pitch. What are your thoughts on this.
Also, when i pulled the plug after i got it home, a little water drained out. I expect it was just a little rain water. The boat sat outside and it sprinkled a little bit. In the water was a little debris. I have read on here that the bottom of the engine compartment is not actually the hull and there is a space between there. I think this is where the water was. Do i need to be concerned with the debris and try to clean it out? When i put my finger in the hole it doesnt feel like it opens up in there. I also have a 73 webbcraft that i had to have the transom replaced in so i am a little paranoid. Any help is greatly appreciated. I dont think i made a mistake purchasing this boat, but a little reassurance would help. Thanks, Beau |

I think you should flush the bilge under the engine and ensure it is nice and dry. If you have the cooler in the bow, this will drain to the bilge also so ensure you give that a good flush. Just ensure everything is dry before your next voyage and occasionally check the bilge. While you are out on the lake, I would raise the outdrive all the way up and see if you are getting water inside the engine compartment (this will stretch the bellows out revealing any defects).
When I purchased mine that was the first thing I noticed. Needless to say I had to repalce the bellows and the shifter cable. And while they were at it, I had them change the gimble bearing. Good luck and hopefully all it is, is the ice you packed the beer in the front cooler.:wink_thumbup: |

I find a biut of water always been normal but we climb in and out of the water a fair bit. As for the prop I would think a 23 would be better little slower out the hole but to be sure you would have to see what rpm you are turning wot if it goes over5000-5500rpm, personally I would pitch up to a 23 I stend to like mine to run around 5000rpm if the motor is stock but thats me.

I have a 2000 Shabah 250 LE with a 7.4 l bravo 3 with a 23" prop. I would tell you how it has preformed but I can't. I purchased in December and the dealer I bought from offered a 30 day parts and labor warranty. I felt compeled to have them due the de- winterizing service so their wouldn't be any question if someting was to happen ( has 130 total hours). $ 135.00
The Ohio river here is rising and planned to take out this Sunday so I have to consider taking 80 miles n east to a resivoir and pay boat launch plus IN lake fees plus added fuel to get there. I will take out for shure somewhere and will give you a my opinion on performance on my boat. I am not an expert but I have owned a boat 2 years otherwise and was a mechanic with heavy equipment for 12 years.. Good luck with yours and I am certain you made a wise choice! |
