Too big for skiing?

I am thinking of upgrading my Z200 to a bigger open bow... 252 or 272. Question is how is the watersports behind them? Are they too big or ok. Kids will be learning to ski this summer and am a bit concerned?

The only concern I could see would be that you would be putting out a little bigger wake than your current boat. We tube and ski behind ours and some of my kids did learn behind ours and there were no problems at all. I really don't think the wake is that much larger, but it is bigger! I have a friend that has a 45' and you should see the wake behind that sucker when they go tubing!

Hey Mike.... if you want to be absolutely certain that it will work, go ahead and purchase the boat then send it to me for the summer and i will test it out for you. :)

I wakeboard and pull tubes with my 27' boat too. It gets up on plane and handles so well at low speeds with the Bravo III that it is actually a little easier to drive than a boat with an Alpha drive, imo.
I just wakeboard further back, where the wake is a little bit cleaner, than on a smaller boat. It does feel like it looks a little funny being behind a boat that big, lol, but it works fine.

Re: Too big for skiing?

So depending on what you mean by skiing. There is a difference between what you want for wakeboarding and skiing. (and tubing as well) If you mean ski as in slaloming on the level of say a mastercraft etc. then its going to be too big. If you just technically want to get up on ski's then of course you can. I have some buddies who wouldn't even bother trying to ski behind my boat. But I wouldn't hesitate to yank up my daughters for an hour of fun.
