Horn Design/Mounting problem

I hope this information is helpful to others. My Z272 had(I removed them) hidden trumpet horns behind a grill on the starboard side. The problem was that the way the horns were installed they would fill up with water when the boat was washed or I got caught in the rain. I found this because the horns started sounding terrible. When I pulled them out I poured a few ounces of water out of each. Besides damaging the horns, this is a potential way for water to get into you boat where it is not suppossed to be. Anyway I removed the horns, put a block off plated behind the grill, and sealed it, then added a surface mount horn, the original electric horns were not available anyway. So no more water inside the side wall of my boat. The only way to access the horn area is to take off a couple of inside panels.

Happy Boating
Dan
