Re: Estimated top end speed???
People shouldn't quote speeds unless they are GPS.

Re: Estimated top end speed???
yeah, i used the "Speedbox" app on my iphone. I assume you would qualify this as a GPS? I only checked it once, but its always accurate in my truck and on my dirtbike. If you don't already have it, give it a try.

My 20 ft Z202 with a 260 hp 5.7 Merc Alpha 1 did 53 with just me. But now that I have a bimini and smart tabs, it's dropped to 50. I don't see how yours could be so much faster. |
Re: Estimated top end speed???
My 222 has a chevrolet fuel injected ram-jet 350. From what I've been told, it is not a normal boat motor. I'm not sure of the exact horsepower. I'll take a screen shot of my GPS when I'm out next and will post it to this message board. If your wanting more speed, i suggest getting a ram-jet. Its about a $7,500 motor, not counting installation, etc... I don't have trim tabs and neither of the bimini tops are on the boat right now. I was told that once the motor is broken in, a computer could be connected to it and adjustments can be made to increase the horsepower and increase the top end even further.

Re: Estimated top end speed???
I want one! I would love another 100 hp! I heard that changing from EFI to MPI would bring me up to 300 hp, right?
I would love to see some videos. Not because I don't believe you, just because I want to see it in action. |
Re: Estimated top end speed???
Remember, non-marinized engines are a ticking time bomb. A car engine is NOT a boat engine. It can be done but there are a lot of modifications that need to be done to do it properly. Starters/alternators/distributors, pretty much anything elextrical needs to be marinized or you are just asking for a fireball on the water. The good news is, the water will eventually put out the flames..... while you are swimming away. Hopefully whoever did yours did it right!

Re: Estimated top end speed???
And engine is an engine, it's the bolt on items that are marina specific. I would hope it's all been converted, but if not, it wouldn't take a whole lot of effort to convert it.
If it hasn't, remember, if you blow someone up, you'll be in big trouble. |
Re: Estimated top end speed???
If an engine is an engine... Why are "Marine" intakes banned for stock cars?
