You might try the search option there was a few posts last spring about hatch lifts and shocks. Just a thought if you didn't.

Yep, if you do a site search for "struts" you will find a number of helpful threads.

Thanks everyone!!! I found the info I needed and I am making S/S plates to mount the shocks on the motor cover due to previous owner removing the struts and I am thinking the gelcoat hatch was damaged because of the marine tex smeared all over it. So I am going to cut 2 3"x5" SS plate and then put some SS on the backside for strength and I will have a functioning motor cover!!!!
The best news is I take delivery of the boat tomorrow!!!!! It has taken a long time to make this deal happen but I think I have made a good choice. I have been doing alot of reading on this site and it appeares to be a very well built boat. I am like a kid a christmas and just want to play with my new toy....LoL

Well this project is going forward! I ordered the lift shocks from Lift Supports Systems | Hood | Window | Trunk | Hatch | Auto Parts By Lou
This website lets you choose the extended length and then they show all the results that are in that length to include lift lb and closed length.

I made some S/S plates to cover-up someones bad patch job on the gel-coat cover, once that was grinded off the plates fit great. The gel-coat cover has a small void behind it so when you tighten the screws the cover bows in so I filled the backside with some bondo to make it soild, and mounted the S/S plates. Now just waiting for the shocks to be delivered so they can be mounted and this project will be done! Now I would like to find someone to paint the Mariah logo embossed on the engine hatch.

Nice job! Those plates are pretty awesome, were they tough to make? You might have something there many of our members could be interested in!
