Side Vent Windows

I have noticed that all the Mariahs I have seen so far have the side vent windows on them. My 93 Diablo doesn't have them. Were they a option on the Diablo maybe?
Is it possible to install a set in a windshield frame that didn't come with them?
I kinda like em! They sure help ventilation I bet.

Re: Side Vent Windows

Looking at the brochure pics of the Diablo & the "Standard Features" page for '93 seems to show that they have/had vent windows as standard equipment. Perhaps someone has already converted yours? If so, it shouldn't be hard to change them over but the difficult thing will be to find the vent windows themselves. You may have to make them out of acrylic (as i did). The hinge/pull handle assembly is still widely available at places like iboats.com or West Marine.

You got some good pics somewhere you could point me to Mikey? I am not real sure how they actually mount and work.
Thanks
Larry

Thanks Mikey , that gives me a idea what I'm looking at. I assume the Diablo vents are different than the Shabah vents.? I was looking at Mariah Mike's windows in the for sale section , and they look different.

Re: Side Vent Windows

Mariah Mikes glass is from a 1999 202 if i remember right. Just like cars, different sized boats, different models & model years could easily mean what fits one boat wont fit another. Probably the only way to check is it to measure the vents. The pic is tough to see but i assume yours is framed for a vent glass so it should be easy to install one. As i suggested earlier the only real difficulty will be finding the glass so you might want to try making one out of acrylic of the same thickness. It's easy to drill the mounting hole thru the acrylic with the proper drill bit & you'll need two mounting holes in the frame itself. I was also looking at 180Diablo's pics in our Gallery. His is a '93 & it clearly shows a vent window.

Yeah , I keep trying to find another without the vent windows but no luck. I got a black sheep it sounds like:)
I think I'll shoot for the acrylic like you did yours. How are they holding up to scratching?
Thanks for all the help Mikey!!

Re: Side Vent Windows

I did my right front curved section and my right side vent window in acrylic back in late '06. The curved section has a few small scratches likely from the boat cover but the vent is still good.

Re: Side Vent Windows

You convinced me. I'm going for it. I do think you are right Mikey, I see where the handle for the vents were mounted on the front side window pillar on my boat. Apparently they were indeed switched out.
Still would like a good pic from the outside of the vent window if possible from someone.
Thanks again for all the help Mikey!
