Mariah 180 throttle control not returning to neutral

Hi All,

New to the Mariah family. I have just got a 2001 Mariah 180 with a volvo 4.3 V6.

The throttle control level is a little stiff but more importantly it has a lot of trouble returning to neutral. If you just slowly return the level to the neutral from forward it will jam and not go. You have to jiggle / waggle it until it pops back to neutral...

Any thoughts / advice much appreciated

Also I cannot search this forum, everything I search for, even as simple as 180 just returns no results... any ideas here as well??

Thanks in advance

Do you know what model of control you have? Seems to be a lot of problems with the older 3000 series (speaking of experience). How do the cables look?

Try adding more to your search criteria. I don't know why it's just saying no results but on most boards if your criteria is to vague then they don't even attempt to run the search.
I tried, 180 and got what you got.
Then, I tried bimini top frame and got results.

Does it only bind when running or when then engine is off, or both? With the engine off you might try disconnecting the engine end of the control cables then moving your shifter to see if it is binding. That would be an easy check. If it is stiff, then u will know that the problem is the cables or throttle quadrant. If they move freely then u need to check the next area down the line. Has anything been worked on recently? Any grinding or strange noises when moving the shifter? Just trying to get some more information so forum members can help.
Happy Boating
