New to Mariah - Just got a 182
Hi Guys, I am new to Mariah and have just brought an immaculate 182 (2001) with the Volvo 4.3 V6
She seems mint, all vinyl and carpets are unmarked and she runs sweet. What should I be looking out for? I think the trim indicator is not working but apart from that everything seems good Any tips and advice? I'm looking forward to getting out this weekend - Southampton Water (UK) |
Re: New to Mariah - Just got a 182
Welcome to the board and Congrats on your "new" Mariah!! :wink_thumbup: Browse around the forums, we've got TONS of info. If your boat is truly "mint", then you shouldn't have any issues, and the ones that do pop up will most likely be minor ones, and this is the place to find out what you need to fix it! Feel free to post any questions you may have, we're all here to help!

Welcome aboard! Since you are in the Southampton area, Southwater Marine in Hambles, Southampton was an original Mariah dealer. David Allen is my contact there so if you are in the area stop by and say hello! I'm sure he would be happy to see one of the original Mariahs again.

Thanks for the reply!
I actually brought the boat from David! He had it via his brokerage from a chap in Bristol. He's a top guy and knows his Mariahs I am loving this boat, I had a Boston Whaler before so this is like going for real luxury compared! Attached some pics, hope you can all see them |
Re: New to Mariah - Just got a 182
wow, a very beautiful boat! But something looked different to me...........didn't these all come with stainless grab rails around the bow seating area? Were they deleated from the 2001 boats? Just curious, and thanks for the info.

182 2001 and 2000
I notice a few changes too...
I see more leg room up front, and like the two tone seats. Heres ol1000s 2001 on the left, and my 2000 on the right. http://www.mariahownersclub.com/gall...php?n=4569&w=o http://www.mariahownersclub.com/gall...php?n=4568&w=o |
Re: New to Mariah - Just got a 182
The differences are likely due to ol1000's boat being a "Diablo" (2001) and klattu's being a "Shabah" (2000).

Re: New to Mariah - Just got a 182
Yup, mikeyt is right-on again! I checked out the 2001 brochure in the "Promotional Materials" forum. ol1000's boat is really a "180 Diablo" and klattu's is a "182 Shabah". Apparently, the 180 Diablo was a new "value-priced" boat for 2001, with the two-tone upholstry, different seats, no anchor storage compartment in the bow, and only one grab rail on the swim platform. Since Mariah closed up shop in 2001, ol1000's Diablo must be pretty rare. I bet there were only a few of them built. If so, he's a pretty exclusive member of our club, and is lucky to have found such a rare, nice looking boat. And klattu is right......the different seats/upholstry treatment really visually opens up the space inside. It's funny how Mariah kept changing their numbers. Our boat (a 1996) says "180 Shabah" on the side window.

I agree, My Shabah 182 is a 2000 and looks exactly like the one on the right. the two tone color scheme is cool tho. NICE boat.
