Speedometer problems! 97 Mariah 180
I just bought the boat and the owner says the speedo worked last summer, but for some reason now it is sitting on 20mph and won't go back to zero. With a little air pressure it will climb and with a vacuum attached it will go to zero, but it goes back to 20mph every time. I have taken the gauge out of the boat and the air line is off, but the gauge still reads high! Not sure what to do here.
BTW this is the white/gold Faria gauge... |

Try cleaning out the pickup hole in the outdrive and then blow out the airline towards the outdrive.

Tried that already...the problem is that even with the gauge completely out of the boat it still reads incorrectly. May be a problem with the gauge.

If its a Faria then it has a lifetime warranty. You can arrange to return it at Faria Marine Instruments.
