Default Water in Cockpit porta pottie storage area on 250 question

Just curious the reason their is not a drain hole back to the stern bildge pump from the cuddy area? I either have a small amount of water coming in from by bow deck window or I have a very small stress crack allowing water into my cuddy cabin area where the porta pottie is stored.

Has anyone drilled a hole and installed a drain in this area to allow rear transfer of water back to stern bildge pump or is this not a good idea?

Not a good idea. The fuel tank is directly behind the porta-potty cabinet. One wrong move with the drill and you'll have a heck of a problem. There is a small hole drilled there already, sometimes it gets clogged with debris, or the carpet ends up covering it. I have the same problem from time to time.

Thanks Chris I will look for the OEM small hole that you speak about to see if clogged. I was not planning to drill before I took the top floor panel off to see what I was doing. Now I don't have to bother with that little problem.

It is in there somewhere, I remember finding mine, and the carpet had covered it and there was a little debris blocking it. I will only usually get water in that compartment if there's been a pretty serious amount of water entering the bilge. A few weeks ago I added some bilge cleaner and about 5 gallons of water into the bilge to let the stuff clean while I drove around. I got a little water that had sloshed forward after that. I'll get it too sometimes after periods of heavy rain. I got a little in there after this past weekend, Hurricane Irene had made Lake Erie quite a bit rough, and after the third 10 footer that came over the bow, I ran the bilge pump all the way back just to be safe.

Not sure if you keep your boat in the water, or on the trailer all the time, but one trick I do is to elevate the front of the boat by lifting up the trailer tongue a bit and pulling the transom drain plug. This usually helps the majority of the water find it's way out. I also use a "Damp-Rid" container placed in the porta-potty cutout to dry the area up when I'm not using it.
