Help With Valuation
 

Hey y'all. We lost our beloved Mariah in a freak accident a couple of weeks ago. A pump malfunction on our dock caused our boat lift to fail turning our boat upside down and submerging it in the lake for close to a day. It is, needless to say, a total loss.

Now I find myself dealing with the insurance company regarding valuation. Naturally, they want to pay far less than our policy was written for. I was wondering if any of you might have some resources to help us prove valuation on our boat.

She was a fire engine red 1999 Mariah 182 Limited Edition with a Mercruiser V8 engine.

Any thoughts on where I could find a comparable?

NADA will be your number one link as you probably wont find a similar boat for sale to use as a comparison. Plug in the information about your boat & it should give u a decent value. You can also try a google search for "1999 Mariah 182 LE" or "1999 Mariah Z182" and see what comes up. The "LE" value would likely be just slightly higher than the "Z" value.

With insurer's, the more evidence you can submit that contradicts their position the better your own negotiating position is.
