Fuel pressure?

Has anyone ever had too much fuel pressure in a carbed boat?
93 Z2350...big block...14 psi at 2200 rpm.

Re: Fuel pressure?

Mechanical fuel pumps usually top out at less than 10 psi...and usually much lower than that. You need to check the specs on your carb to determine the optimum pressure, probably around 6 psi. Too much pressure and your float needle valve will be unable to seat and you will run rich and most likely stall at idle.

Yes, I know....but why is the original pump pumping too much.....usually they pump too little when they fail?
Just wondering why.
