radio cutting out
Hey guys, I recently put a stereo in my in my Shabah. I put a sony cd player, 4 mb quart 6.5's, a 260 watt mb quart amp, and mb quart 10" sub. That being said it is a small amp. I am having a problem with the cd player cutting out at higher volume levels. I have hooked up another battery to it and it still does no good. Ity does it whether you are cruising, idling, and turned off. I know that it is usually a sign that the battery is getting low, but the battery still starts the boat with no problem. I don't know what else to try. My last thought is to run a constant power from the battery to the cd player instead of using the constant power that is part of the factory wiring set up.
Any suggestions?? it is about to drive me crazy! |
Re: radio cutting out
That's typically a sign that the wiring isn't heavy enough for your new, more powerful HU. My Mariah did that so I ran a dedicated hot up to the head unit and it resolved it. It was also nice to have the stereo not on on the ignition switch during water sports.

Re: radio cutting out
So you ran one to the constant and the remote wire? This was my next thought, but I didn't want to go thru that for nothing. I will try it.

I agree , I would run a dedicated runs to the head unit. Kinda sounds like "clipping"

Re: radio cutting out
I know its been a while, but I finally got to it this past weekend. Good call guys. Fixed it. I just ran it to the constant but I left the ignition (remote) wire alone.
