Out of the blue

So after 100+ hours this year of use, I float the boat off the trailer today on the 2nd hottest day of the year so far. Fire it up to let it warm while I park the trailer. I load up the family, the kids un-tie the ropes, push off and jump on. I put it into reverse and ............. NADA! Nothing......zilch.

Then the growling metallic sound muffled by the water became apparent.

So.........we loaded it back up, trekked over to my mech-a-nics home to hear the upper clutch/tranny took a dump.

Took us 60 minutes to tear it down and find the damage.

First guess is $500-600 in parts.

Sierra makes all the aftermarket parts you will ever need.

That BLOWS, sorry dude!

As a local pacific northwestern I truly understand the need to seize the sunshine days that we have as few as they are. Well, I was out there and didn't have any major problems, although I have an rpm issue I will post in another thread I hope you and others can help me with.

Your tranny is a bummer, sorry to hear it. Good thing you have a good mechanic huh?

We are up near Olympia Washington. We were on the Puget sound today near Allyn with mount Rainier on one side and the Olympic Mtns on the other. Days like this remind us why we put up with this place!:wink_thumbup:

You know what they say, only thing better than having a boat , is having a friend with one!

Nice the nephew came through.

I also reminded him it was "pay back" time. His last 3 boats he's picked up in LA and drove my excursion to tow them back.

tore it apart Saturday night and the clutch and gears (fwd & reverse) are wasted. Theyve been damaged for a while, it was just a matter of time til they went.

Ouch. So sorry to hear that, dude. Hope you can get it back on the water soon. Having so few good boating days up here in the PNW makes one want to be out as much as we can and to lose even one with such a major issue is disheartening. But glad that you were at least able to get out on the other boat.
