Default Air conditioning in a 1999 238?

Did the 238 shabah ever come with A/C from the factory? If not, has anyone successfully installed a marine A/C unit in one? I'm thinking of building my own, but space for ductwork seems limited.

Actually, mikeyT's somewhat right. The smaller ones didn't come with A/C however it was an option on the larger cuddy models, I believe 25ft and above, but I don't believe many people opted to pay the extra $$ for it. It was a much more common option on the MCC cruiser line.

One of our members here actually did the work and converted a household A/C unit for his Z250 and he did a writeup here!
Cold A/C in my Shabah Z250

Of course you could always buy one of the pre-made kits as well, although they're a little pricy, I think they'll set you back about $1500-$1800 when it's all said and done. The other option is a carry-on system. My friend picked up a Cruisair carry-on A/C off craigslist that he uses on his sailboat, and when he's not using it, I sometimes do. He paid about 1/4 of what they cost new, so you might try and look into that route!

Thanks guys... His writeup is actually got me thinking of doing this, however it seems like my boat has 2 layers on the hull, so I'm wondering where is the best place to mount the intake port. Plus, I dont have a closet to mount it in like his 27 footer. It's gonna be a challenge, but I think I can pull it off.
