Fire port in the stern seat storage area?
 

I have a 2000 shabah 222 that has a fire port under the bench seat in the stern of the boat, does anyone know what this is for? It looks like a plug in the compartment and has a hole that goes thru the seat back to the engine compartment...is this for a halon system or something?

I case of a fire, you can stick the nozzle of your fire extinguisher into the hole and shoot in some of the extinguisher's contents to retard/extinguish the fire. Leaving the seat in place gives you a barrier from the fire and cuts down on its air supply. Personally, I would be leaving.
