Uptrim Issues
 

I recently bought a 1996 Mariah Shabah 180 with the 4.3L Mercruiser. I've had it on the water twice now and have the same issue both times. I can down trim the outdrive with no issues in the water, when it's at the bottom of it's range of motion and I try to uptrim with the switch on the throttle, generally nothing happens. Every once in a while it will move up slightly then stop right away. When I try the trailer trim, it trims it right up with no issues. When I take it out of the water and play with the trim, everything works perfect. Anyone have any idea why this is only giving me a problem in the water??? Any help would be appreciated.

It would seem that your trim limit switch may need adjusting. As it is, it may be okay for your on the warer needs. It may have been set that way deliberately.

If you have the access, there should be trim limit switch adjustment instructions somewhere on this site.

I'll try looking for the instructions. I did some more playing around with it today while the boat was on the trailer. The trim is still working good when trimming down, when I get past the 3/4 position down on the guage the uptrim refuses to work, but the Trailer tilt works fine. When I use the trailer tilt to move the outdrive above the 3/4 mark the uptrim switch works again... Thanks for the help.

Issue appears to be solved now. Just had to do a minor tweak of the Trim limit switch.
