Fuel gage not working

I have a 96 Shabah 180 with a 4.3 and a Alpha one drive. The fuel gage is pegged at empty. I am trying to trouble shoot the sending unit but I can't find the access . Can anyone help me with information on how to get to it or find it.

It hiding underneath the carpet just in front of the engine. Usually that problem involves corroded contacts at the sender.
