Parts needed
Hi there, was able to pick up a 275 mariah and need some help from everybody out there...The outside of my boat is rough and in need of new color . What is the general idea out there for redoing the outside, a good quality industrial paint or spraying new gel coat.. Also in refrence to this thread The front bow hatch on my boat is broken and I need to replace it, any ideas out there on where this hatch can be bought.
Rico not sure why this was posted in the Mariah Parts Vendors list thread but....moved by moderator. |
Re: Parts needed
Have you tried to restore the gelcoat? Try the Fiberglass Restoration Kit from Meguiars. You might be surprised what you can do with it. If you've tried the restoration kit and it still isn't any good, then have the boat professionally gelcoated, don't use a "industrial paint", it'll destroy the boat, and any resale value down the line.
I'm assuming when you say the front bow hatch, you're referring to the anchor locker located at the very front of the boat? If so, these are incredibly hard, if not impossible to find replacements for because they were made in-house at the Mariah factory. If you still have the hatch, you're probably better off taking it to a fiberglass repair shop and having them repair it. |
Re: Parts needed
sorry i wasnt more clear on the hatch.. my boat is the closed bow cuddy, and the hatch I am talking about is the square hatch that you can crawl through. Thanks for the info on the restore kit.

Re: Parts needed
Oh, you mean the hatch window? Well Yes, those can be replaced, I believe the originals were made by Bomar, but Taylor Made produces replacements as well (my boat has one!). You'll just need the measurements, and they can be ordered from a variety of retailers, including West Marine, online boat supply stores, etc.

Re: Parts needed
my problem is the window is not the part i need do they sell just the frame pieces. The part that attaches the window to the boat is plastic and the hinges parts are broken. also one of the handles on the window side is missing and the mechanical struts that hold the door open on one side is also broken. So I guess what i was wondering is if your boat has one maybe it has a sticker on it that would say the brand and I could just by the parts to fix mine? I dont know what do you think?

Re: Parts needed
You can usually buy individual replacement pieces of the windows at somewhere like West Marine. If not, contact the OEM manufacturer, Bomar. They should be able to point you in the right direction and should have everything you need.
