Re: What are these wires?

I have what looks like the same thing, extra pair of speaker wires, found them this weekend while re-stitching all the console & radio wiring.

I have the 1996 Shabah 180.

I have only 4 speakers installed, but 6 sets of wires that are all original (but the labels are missing), stitched right into the harness conduit so they aren't after market. Your labels look like the original factory labels, so I bet you have the same thing.

Good clue for the speaker wire is that they have clear insulation, and you should notice, if you look hard enough, the of the pair one is silver (negative) and one is gold (posotive), if memory serves.

I also have other originaly installed cabling for accessories not installed, such as docking lights and wipers. Looks to me like they just used a default wiring harness regardless of the actually installed accessories.

Hope that helps!

Chris

My theory is that to keep production costs down,Mariah used universal wiring harnesses for all their boat. But I could be wrong and this post was just a waste of time.

This is correct. It is common for companies to use one wiring harness for multiple configurations. Automotive companies do this all the time. I see it a lot in Ford's. :)
