Transom Wet Storage Leak

Hi Everyone,

Last fall after pulling my 1998 Z210 from the water, I noticed water draining out around the brass sleeve in the transom wet storage locker even though the locker was dry. Upon further inspection, I noted that the bras drain sleeve was loose and that the water was actually leaking from the space between the wet storage bottom and outer fiberglass shell. It also appeared that there was a decent size cavity that runs across that back of the boat above the outdrive that also had water in it. I went ahead and pumped out all of the water that I could using a vacuum pump. I ended up pulling about a gallon or so out of the void. I have since sealed the brass drain sleeve so water will not be entering the void anymore, but I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue or know whether or not my transom is at any risk. It appeared that the void the water got into was a sealed off, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey, I had the same thing happen to our 98 210. after spending around 800 dollars on everything else we thought it could be, we realized that it was from the drain plug sleeve at the rear cooler, which had a worm-hiole down threw the transom to the drain plug.

I am sorry to hear that you ended up spending so much on what amounted to be a simple issue....I actually talked to a dealership that sold Mariahs before they were bought by Sea Fox, and the service man told me it is a really common issue. I guess the solution is to replace the brass drain sleeve with a new plastic one...I may do that this year, but as a short term fix, I siliconed around the sleeve last fall.
