New Stereo Relocated to Port side

1 Attachment(s)
Got tired of the flimsy console where the original radio was located. I extended the wiring harness to the port side and found a nice stereo enclosure and located under the dash. Fabricated new dash panel out of sheet metal and had it powder coated with all the switches attached all of which I did myself.

It was always a frustration on how cheap the materials were used for the dash console (couldn't they have used a little thicker plastics????). However, if the part fails, I just fabricate my own replacement components.

Anyway, through hard work and constant maintenance, I could easily polish and display my Mariah on any boat show floor and you would not know the boat is 15 years old. We all know that how we Mariah owners are.

Everyone have a safe and fun 2011 Summer

Very nice work. Like the change. New to forum but been debating doing the same thing.

Nice work, I don't think I could do it to my Mariah, that console (crapy as it may be) is a signature of the Mariahs, plus I would hate having to reach over to the passanger side of the boat to turn down the radio. I guess I'm a control freak, and don't want anyone else in control of my stereo.

lol, funny.. I was thinking pretty much the opposite. My gf is always reaching through my arms to change songs at the most inappropriate times. If I just moved the dang stereo to her side that would be alleviated. :)

Nice work on the mod. It looks good.

Just another option. If someone wanted to spend a little bit of money, they could mount a modern marine stereo on whichever side you want and mount a marine remote on the other side. That way either the driver or passenger could control the stereo. Most of the larger brands have matching wired marine remotes (ie. Sony,Kenwood,Pioneer...)

I agree with Hyprryd - put a wired remote on the opposite side. I did that with a Kenwood upgrade I did on my Mariah and I was more impressed with the remote than i was the deck itself. I have since purchased another boat that doesn't have the remote and I really miss it.

That's why I put in a stereo with a remote :)
