I live in Carpentersville, but we boat in the Wisconsin Dells. Where are you guys going to burn your gas?

We will run the IL river alot and also take it out on Lake Mich. Usually we go to the Ozarks once a season.

The lake is a lot of fun as long as conditions are right. I love coming up the chicago River and locking through. We go to New Buffalo and go boating and that is real nice also

Congrats on your "new" Mariah adk2300!

Boating on the Great Lakes is awesome, just make sure you're prepared. The weather patterns can shift insanely quick. Make sure you've got charts, a VHF, and if possible, a GPS (and obviously all your coast guard equipment!) I had a brochure once on how to read weather patterns using the sky, cloud formations, and wind direction, if I can find it, I'll try and scan it and upload for everyone!
