Default Depthfinder on a 1994 Davanti 205

Hi all!

The depth guage on my 1994 Davanti 205 does not work. Is there an OEM replacement available that would be a snap-in for the old one? Or do I have to do something major to put a depth guage in?

Thanks a bunch.

Assuming that you haven't checked to see if the transducer puck has come loose from its mounting position, that would be the first thing to check out. Its usually located on the floor of the hull near the front of the engine. If its loose, your depthfinder wont work.

I did check the transduce. The display itself is not turning on. That is what made me think there is a problem with the unit itself.

And you've checked the wiring for any corrosion/looseness at the back of the depthfinder? Is there power going to the unit when the switch is turned on? I'm not trying to be anal but a lot of times its a simple wiring / ground problem rather than a defective unit. If you have to replace it the you will likely have to replace the transducer also.

Is your depthfinder a Lowrance 3500 ? If so there is a bit of information on the Lowrance site.

MikeyT, I finally got the time to look at the wiring and you were absolutely right. The black wire had come off the powerblock (I am guessing that is what it is called - it is a block where all the wires connect to and have some fuses on). Fixed the black wire back and the gauge works now.
Thanks a bunch for your help.

Glad to hear it was a simple fix!

    I have a 1994 Davanti 205

I have a bad lcd screen on my depth finder. Its a Presidential LTD 260 model and I was wondering if anyone could direct me to the replacement for this.

    Thank you
