Trying to locate the alarm

There are warning stickers on the dash about the alarm but I am unable to find it.1996 182 Barchette. When turning the key to on there is no alarm. I am betting the previous owner unhooked it. I would like to hook it back up. Could the alarm use the horn? Right now the horn is not working either I found and removed that and will be replacing . My winter project is to go through this boat and undo every thing the last guy did. He took great care of the boat clean, shiny and maintained but his wiring is scary. Removed the stereo, fish finder and off shore radio so far.

Re: Trying to locate the alarm

elimont,

If it like mine, it is a small black hockey puck shaped item about two inches in diameter and about a half of an inch thick. Mine is fastened to the underside of the glasswork just about under the windshield (starboard side).

I haven't found the horn yet.

If it's in the same place as it is on our 1994 182 Barchetta, it's up under the dash, on the starboard side. It's a small, round, aluminum "can" kind of a thing, IIRC.

Could be. Ours had. Turn the key to run, w/o starting. The alarm should sound w/in about 10-20 seconds.

Nope. Separate sounder.

That's typical. We have the same on our sailboat. I have yet to address all that. Someday... Luckily the PO of our Barchetta hadn't messed with her :)

Welcome to MOC!

Re: Trying to locate the alarm

My horn was also where you are saying your alarm is. I had to almost stick my head in the access from the bow and it was mounted against the outside. I felt around everywhere and still no alarm will look tomorrow when its light again. I also tried finding the wire tan/Blu to try to trace it to the alarm. I have yet to find that either.
