Re: Carnauba Boat Wax
The Meguiars Fiberglass Restoration kit (3 part kit) is great for neglected and oxidized boats. You'll be very happy with the results. But I should clear this up, only the last step (3rd bottle) is the Carnuba wax. That's like the shiny "top coat" over everything else.
If the boat isn't oxidized and doesn't need polishing, then I recommend Meguiar's Flagship Premium Marine wax. It's a high gloss wax that makes the boat look great. It's only a few dollars more than the Starbrite, and is less abrasive than a polish. On my old Z250 I'd alternate between the fiberglass restoration kit and the flagship wax every year. |
Re: Carnauba Boat Wax
My finish was not bad. Looks better now. $12 for Starbrite? i got hosed. I did put another coat of wax yesterday. It's like the gel coat is soaking up the wax. Any suggestions? Update ... Okay I see your reply now. Still in training on this site. I am assuming that is not the same wax that comes in the restoration kit correct?

Re: Carnauba Boat Wax
The geloat could very well be soaking up the wax. When you applied "another coat", what did you use? The carnuba from the Meguiars kit? Are you still using the dual action buffer?
When I was talking about the Meguiars Flagship wax it's not the stuff that comes with the kit. It's separate and comes in a black bottle. http://content.westmarine.com/images...ll/1145838.jpg West Marine has it for $24.99 a bottle, but you can get it much cheaper online, usually around $15-20. |
