Default relocate bilgepump

Aloha, my bilgepump needs replacement so i ordered a Rule 1100gph automatic pump. My question is; why is the original bilgepump located almost in front of the engine instead of close to the transom as possible, seems to me thats where the bilgewater will collect first.. Anyone knows why ? The only reason i can come up with is that the transducer from the depthsounder is located in the same area and when the bilgepump is fitted too close to the transducer it can interfere its signal when the pump kicks in.. Other than that it seems to me that the obvious place to fit the new bilge is right next to the transom...

Any opinions ?

Best regards

Actually in every boat I've ever owned and been on, the bilge pump is never directly at the transom. It's always at least a foot or so forward. There has to be a good reason why it was placed there, I wouldn't try to move it.
