1999 Shabbah first time owner with a few questions...

Hi, first time owner in Montreal Canada..and loving the boat :). I have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.Is it normal to have an alarm go on when the igintion is turned on ? It goes off once the engine starts. Also, what is the ACC button for on my dash ? Is it normal for the boat to slightly bob left and right at slow speeds ? Lastly, how do you get the boat to plane faster ? thanks for your help ! Alan

Some do it, some don't. Most of the alarms have a delay so they don't come on before the engine gets going. Ours is about 10-15 seconds, I think.

That alarm monitors engine coolant temp, oil pressure and drive fluid level. It's the lack of oil pressure, until the engine gets going, that's causing the alarm to go off.

ACCessories :) Of course: If you have none, it doesn't do anything.

I think you mean "wander?" Yes. All single-prop boats do it to some degree.

Lower-pitched prop or go to four blades from three. (You may lose top-end and reduce gas mileage, tho.) Smart tabs or trim tabs. More power!

Here's the Smart Tabs thread. They're also said to reduce low-speed wander.

I see you have a 182 Shabbah. What size engine (I don't know what a "190" is) and carburetor (two or four barrel), and what prop is currently on the boat?

Alan,

Welcome! These are great boats! Enjoy!

Jim is spot on with each answer.

My Shabah alarms right from the start until the engine is started.

I haven't done smart tabs, but keep threatening to do them. I have many great reports about them.

Safe boating!
Jon
