Hello,

I have recently acquired a 2000 222 Shabah with a 7.4L Mercury motor and a Bravo 3 sterndrive.

I've taken the boat out a few times this season after rebuilding the engine from being flooded with water.

However, depending on the conditions, an alarm will start beeping about once every other second, continuously until I turn the ignition off.

It rarely happens in calm water while just cruising below 35mph.
It happens fairly consistently while pulling tubers aggressively, but seems unrelated to engine RPMs or speed.
As I've kept the RPMs below 3k and have had it still go off, even while pulling small children, being very cautious.

I think it may be caused by some sort of shock sensor if one exists? As it seems to occur after hitting someone (or my own) wakes that are pretty rough; but also has gone off while just cruising across a glassy lake.


Does anyone know what causes this, and how to prevent it from happening? And a way to reset the alarm without having to stop and shut the motor off for a few minutes?

It happens with the blower on or off, temp is normal, oil is normal, stern lube is full, there's no performance loss or noticeable engine performance loss.

The previous owner said it's done that since day 1, and never bothered to check it out or figure out what causes it.

Just to add; I unhooked the gear oil sensor, and the alarm goes off less frequently, but it still goes off under certain, unknown, conditions.

The temp and oil gauges are dead center when the alarm goes off.
I'll try unhooking all three sensors when I go out on Tuesday and see if it goes off still. It seems to me to be a corroded wire, or a bad connection of some sort.

Have you checked the depth sensor alarm?

That was my first thing I checked; the depth sensor doesn't even have power unless the switch is turned on.
