Faria depth gauge

Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot the Faria depth gauge on my 2001 192 Shabah. The gauge comes on but just reads UN I guess for unknown. I looked in the engine compartment and found the transducer it seems to be hooked up fine.

Re: Faria depth gauge

Check to see if the transducer has come loose in its mount. If so it wont read properly even if still wired correctly.

Checked that it is securely hooked to mount. Anything else I can check?

I would try contacting Faria, this may be a common problem and they might have a easy fix available or it may be time to send it back for the warranty repair.

Ok thank you. Will give them a try.

I have the exact same problem. If I push "mode" it will go from shallowest depth, to deepest, to "UN", and that's it. I'm trying to figure it out also. If I do I'll let you know and you do the same.

Thanks.

Ok sounds good. I have't contacted Faria yet been at the lake too much. But when I get it fixed I will post any resolution here.

Re: Faria depth gauge

Ok so I think I know what the problem is with my depth finder, the transducer is mounted on a ring that is about an inch tall so there is air space between the bottom of it and the boat, that air space has to be filled with mineral oil because the signal will not pass through air. Mine was dry as a bone! Hope this helps.
