Rend Lake - Benton Illinois
 

Took the family to Rend Lake in Illinois yesterday, before putting the boat in we drove the extra couple miles south of the lake to Benton for lunch. Got a couple comments from the locals on the Mariah, and got plenty of looks.

I am guessing that when these boats were being developed they tested them in Rend Lake since it's the closest body of water to the manufacturing plant?

I would guess you are correct. I've never boated on Rend Lake, however I only live about an hour and a half away and used to go near and around Benton and the lake for business several years ago. Some of the background shots on the older brochures definitely look like Rend Lake.

I was fortunate enough to have actually been inside the factory and their offices around 1999 or 2000. At that time I was working for a company which did inspections on damaged freight. I believe I inspected a large quantity of extruded aluminum which was to be used for windshields. I remember gawking at all the great-looking boats.
