Re: I finally got my new interior finished, well almost.
Spinks, if you want you could PM me with your stereo questions. I would be glad to help you out. If I get some time this spring, after I get the boat out, I will post a thread about the install with some better pics of the boxes. I wasn't sure if anybody would be interested. It seems like more people would be interested than I originally thought or I would have posted it last year when I did the install.

Hyperryd, how did you dye the vinyl. I'm completely new to this boat improvement thing, so I have no clue on the how, what, and when's of re-dying vinyl on my boat. Your's looks fantastic.

Re: I finally got my new interior finished, well almost.
Doc, I had the vinyl recovered, then dyed the dashes and replaced the carpet myself. All of the vinyl and carpet is new. Dying the dashes involves removing them from the boat, scrubbing years of armor all off of the parts and then spraying the vinyl dye,(which is like spray paint). Then of course reinstalling the gages and everything else. It sounds easy, but it was a lot of work. Definitely something to do in the offseason as it takes a while and upholstery shops charge a mint this time of year.
Dark, good luck with finding a "new to you" boat. Don't be discouraged by the interior too much. I personally like picking up boats with good hulls and drivetrains that someone let the interior get rough. It really limits the number of people who would consider the project and usually lowers the price the seller is willing to take. With some hard work and a little bit of money you can end up with a boat that is worth considerably more that you have in it. Definitely listen to the surveyor though, as hidden things on a boat can get really expensive and ruin the whole "deal". ---John |
Re: I finally got my new interior finished, well almost.
Thanks yeah the surveyor said he doesn't do the motor though I checked with three all said the same the motor is for a mechanic so I guess my assesment of the drive train has to do all seemed good on the drive I took it for other then the exhaust switched only some times, Yeah my last boat I put alot of hours into it had it 10 years and sold it for what I paid plus 2k but she was a rocket when I was done had the upholstery redone on it and put in a new stereo aswell brought her kinda up to date. Yeah just want an outside look at the boat incase I am being blind about thigs I have never seen such a loaded up boat other then say a Cobalt. Where abouts are you in case I need your upholstery and imbroidery place the rest I think I can handle if nothing else pops out at me your stereo looks kicken to may hit you for some pointers I am pretyy basic lots of speakers and amps usually lol.

You can get one either online or in a car stereo installation shop. It is a single DIN pocket.
