Unhappy gas in oil

Checked the oil this morning, and noticed the reading was over the full mark by a 1/2 inch. I'm
not sure how long it took to do this, we went on a long slow ride 2000 to 2500 rpm and idle on
Saturday. I have the 6.2 MPI GM engine. There is about 20 hours on the oil change, and the
engine has 190 hours on it. The boat is a 2001 250 Shabah, and this is our first full season with the
boat. I called my mechanic today and told him the same story, and he said the first thing he
would check was the injector and make sure it was not bleeding off in the cylinder each time I
shut the engine off. Any one else had this problem? I grew up around boats and never had much
trouble, lucky. I really like my Mariah, she had set idle for over a year until I got her. Spent all
winter working on her, new interior, bellows, hard buff , etc. She looks like new, but she is starting
to ware me out. Today I even talked of selling

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Kirk.

have your mechanic (or yourself) check the fuel pump diaphragm. If it is bad then gas will go straight to the crankcase. A plugged injector may cause the same problem.

Mine's carbureted but I had this same issue at the first of the season. Mikey's right on, rebuilding the carb fixed mine which indicates that it had essentially the same issue as a plugged injector (cylinder wall washdown).
I don't think that electric fuel pumps are as likely to cause the issue as mechanical ones. My understanding was that the only way an electric one would cause the problem is if it's giving too much pressure.

in the automotive world id be looking for an injector stuck open or a fuel press diaphram leak
