I have a 1999 z252 and the steering wheel is upside down. I have looked at the hub but can't figure out how the cover comes off to remove the wheel. Anyone out there with any ideas?

Hi Lloyd Chip Lambert, most have a center cap that can be carefully pried off while others have a spoke cover assembly held on by a couple of screws accessed from behind the steering wheel spokes. After you have removed the cap/cover. you will see a single nut holding the wheel to the steering shaft. FYI... even with the nut removed, the wheel may be a bit stubborn and refuse to come off, spray a little penetrating oil around the shaft where the wheel hub meet (the shaft is splined) and after allowing a little time to soak in, lightly bump the backside of the wheel rim in a star like pattern similar to tightening the lugs on a car rim, that should do it. Don't pound too hard as you don't want to damage the dash, or steering components.

If you still can't access the nut, could you take a picture of your wheel and post it here for us to see?

I have a 96 model, it had three phillips head screws from the back holding on the cover plate. Removed that and a dingle self locking nut held on the steering wheel. Removed the nut and the wheel pulls off easily and has a key/keyway set up with three positions. My wheel was about 120 deg off so moved it one notch and done. Took all of 5 minutes.
