Having bought a boat that had apparently been coated with Vaseline for the inspection, I can say it covers, not cures the oxidation. I have wet sanded with 1200 grit, polished with rubbing compound and then waxed before I actually got a shine to appear. Vaseline, baby oil and the like only cover the chalking until the next good wash.

I was wondering if the Vaseline cure could actually make the problem worse. Will it have an adverse reaction with the gel coat?

The same thing crossed my mind, Iowa.
I would use Leverage products. The creator, Donnie, is on Midwestboatparty and seems like a really good guy. I'm sure he'd know from experience if Vaseline and the like can cause problems. |
