1993 21' Shabah less than 100hrs
Hello I am a new member to th club I just aquired a 21' shabah with very low hours but left uncovers for many years boat has minor oxidation no dock rub or scratches engine outdrive and tandem trailer look as if they are in new condition. Interior needs work but all dash components are in good shape. Whith some polishing and some interior work she looks like thike she would be a beautiful boat. Just wondering if 1500.00 is worth the price.

Hell, the trailer alone was worth the $1500.

I agree....$1,500 for some hard work and cleaning supplies....sounds like an awesome deal! Hope it turns out to be a great boat for you!

+1, sounds like you got a great buy. The rest is mostly elbow grease.

I have an 94 204 Talari with some oxidation issues. My daughter researched this and found the be, and easiest solution is use vasaline. Very cheap. Prelimianry resutls are awsome.

Sounds like a "slick" answer to me.:wink_thumbup:

Re: 1993 21' Shabah less than 100hrs
Having bought a boat that had apparently been coated with Vaseline for the inspection, I can say it covers, not cures the oxidation. I have wet sanded with 1200 grit, polished with rubbing compound and then waxed before I actually got a shine to appear. Vaseline, baby oil and the like only cover the chalking until the next good wash.

I was wondering if the Vaseline cure could actually make the problem worse. Will it have an adverse reaction with the gel coat?

The same thing crossed my mind, Iowa.
I would use Leverage products. The creator, Donnie, is on Midwestboatparty and seems like a really good guy. I'm sure he'd know from experience if Vaseline and the like can cause problems. |
