Default New Guy, 1999 182 Shabah

I just purchased a 1999 Mariah 182 Shabah bowrider. Got it for 4000 with a 2004 trailer. I am currently in the process of upgrading the stereo, replacing the anodes, and replacing the fuel filters. I have ordered the mercruiser maintancnce manual so I should be good on the last 2 topics when it comes in. The CD player I bought came with two 6'' speakers that I want to install. I was wondering if anyone had done this. I have a few questions

-where did you install your speakers? ( I am thinking in the bow )

-what did you cut the holes with?

-how hard is it to wire the speakers to the head unit?

-My main question is how hard is it to remove the original tape deck and put in a CD player head unit.

Also my cover seems to be about 2 inches short all around, I figure this is due to age and the fact that it is still fairly cool in MD. Hopefully it will stretch to fit correctly when the weather heats up.

Last thing is I plan on keeping the boat in the water all summer (saltwater, chesapeake bay, I have paint on the bottom), is there anything I should look out for to wear out early or take extra care of?

Thanks in advance and I look forward being a member here.

I installed the stereo last night, no problem there. I plan on adding the additional speakers this weekend, but I do not see them being a problem since there is so much room in the bow under the seats. I'll let you know how it goes. Supposed to be 80's here this weekend. Woo Hoo!!!!

Just had a stereo installed Wednesday, 1998 shabah. New pioneer deck, 5'' speakers under driver & passenger removed and put in 61/4'' pioneer. put a 500watt memphis amp to drive the 10'' sub I put in the rear bench seat. Put the sub in the center, sealed it off with treated plywood to create a box. 6x9 also went in the rear seat, one on each side of the sub. installed a blue sea 7650 add a battery. Took out the battery that was in the boat replaced with 2 optima blue top D31M $200.00ea.
