Used boat advice- 93 Diablo vs 95 Barchetta

Hi,

I'm a new member here looking for some buying advice. I'm in SOCAL and looking at a couple used boats. One is a '93 Diablo with a 4.3l Mercruiser at a dealer with asking price $7995. The other is a private sale asking $5000 for a '95 Barchetta with the same engine. I still need to look at both in person and I know the '95 needs some tlc (radio, speedometer, some seat tears), but am told it has had a carb rebuilt and runs great. After a bit of reading I am definitely leaning towards a Mariah due to the great comments I've read so hopefully I'll soon be a permanent member here!

The dealer price seems a bit high to me. Are there any specific things I should look for on these boats?
ie What accesories can I ask the dealer to include? to sweeten the deal.
Are there any known issues with either of these models?

And I am returning to Canada in a few months and plan to import it when we move back.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Brad

The '93 sounds overpriced by quite a bit.

Totally agree. Of course they claim that they gave it the once over...

I will see if I can get the other one to a dealer for hull and engine inspection, unless the dealer comes down significantly.

Hi boatmansteels and welcome to the club!

I agree with Dredd. From what I have experienced, many SOCAL dealers, tend to do quite a bit of markup!

I would keep looking around for a more reasonable price and you might want to start with our "Boats for Sale" section .

Good luck and hope to see you back soon with a Mariah :wink_thumbup:
