Talari or Shabah -what is the difference?

I am wondering what the difference is between these models. Looks the same to me. I am currently looking for one around 25 foot long.

Here is a 246Z talari for sale locally, but they have a ridiculous dreamer price of 19,995 dollars on it. It has been sitting there for at least 2 years. I dont understand why they wont sell it for less. I asked, and they wont budge. I guess they think they have a museum piece or something.

Here is a link:

Mariah 1998 246Z Tolari

I am either going to go with one of these, or just get a monterey, chaparral, or searay 25 foot cruiser. The boats just mentioned have a roomier cuddy, and are probably quieter. The mariah probably is faster and handles better, but I dont know-never had any of these. I am coming from the 20 ft outboard speed boat world. Never owned an inboard.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks
mark

Hi markd514,

Take a look at this thread (click here), scrolll down and read post #7 from member mmiller19. Sentence #6 should help answer your question.

Mariah's motto was "Built and Equipped like no other boat in the world" and it still rings true today. Here, you will find owners that will attest to the fact that dollar for dollar, no other boat compares to a Mariah in quality or features. That said, I still can't recommend paying almost 20K for a '98 Z246, that's a bit tooo high (15k/16K would be more like it if it was fully equipped and in great shape), it's a shame too because it seems that they are just interested in maximizing their profit at all cost rather than working with potential buyers....

Have you looked in the club's "Mariah Boats For Sale" section? One of our members had a '98 Z246 for sale, it might be worth your while to contact them, here's their post - click here

Good luck,
WetWilly
