Shabah - EFI and Wood

Did Mariah ever eliminate wood from the hull? Chaparral started using composites in 2000.

Also, what year, if ever, did the V8 come with EFI?

Both are features I'm looking for in a bowrider.

TIA

My 99 has a 7.4 w/EFI.

EFI is kind of a generic term, it can cover various methods of fuel injection. There's throttle body injection, where the fuel is fed thru the throttle body (like an electric carb), and then there's MPI, which makes use of fuel rails and seperate injectors for each cylinder.

The V8 EFI engines became available in 1996, as an option. In 98, they began offering the MPI systems, which are much more efficient and practical.

The only wood, (that I'm aware of) during the later model years was located in the stringer structure, which were fiberglassed in and glassed over. That should not be a concern unless the boat you're looking at has been sunk. :)

Beltington - have you looked at the Z302?

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking for a 1999 - 2001 19' to 21' Bowrider. With V8 EFI (Throttle-Body or MPI) with composite stringers and floor. I was hopeful someone might know if this setup was ever offered by Mariah.
