Re: The Mariah is paid off
The fella who bought the car on ebay was a fine gentleman from Jacksonville, Fl. He calledteh night he bought it and asked if i would pick him up at our local airport as he wanted to drive it home. YIKKES, i told him that i only put 7 miles on the car since its completion and it really should have some more added for shakedown purposes. Well to cut it short, i picked him up, went to the notary, paid for the car, gave him some tools and spare parts and such and a list of fellow triumph owners along the way in case he broke down and off he went. He called the next day to let me know he arrived safe and sound with only a few minor glitches. He drove straight through!!!! said at 68 yrs old he liked the adventure. We stay in touch to share info about the car. So yes, Ii believe it went to a good family.
This car was never prodiuced by Triumph. They made a Spitfire 4 cyl ( which is the body style of the restoration) and a GT6 which was a fastback style with a 6cyl engine. I used the GT6 frame and running gear matched to the Spitfire body and trimmings. It makes for a not often seen head turner for the Triumph enthusiast. The body is a late model with the earlier front end added with little modifications.
All in All a good deal, He is happy, I,m happy to own my Mariah, added some money to the girls college loans and added space in the garage
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all
