Installed stringer/floors.....

Im back on to see whats goin on here. I used to work at the original Mariah boats in Benton, IL. Installed the the floors and stringer components in the lamination dept. Back in the early 90's. I currently work at Crownline Boats just south of Benton. Work with alot of folks who got their start in boat building at Mariah and Celebrity Boats that was in Benton as well. Some as far back as the Mark Twain Boats plant that was in West Frankfort in the late 70's and early 80's. Alot of boat manufacturing knowledge in about 6 square miles.

Welcome to the board deaniro1! It's great that we've got another former employees on here! We'd love to hear your experiences in working for Mariah and if you can offer our members with any insight into the stringer & floor production aspect of the boats! There have been a few questions in the past about wood in the floors and things, maybe you could help set the record straight on how things were produced.

Also, please feel free to spread the word about the site to your co-workers. There's nothing like hearing things directly from the former employees, the real life experiences of those who actually built these beautiful boats. :wink_thumbup:

WOW, this is interesting, i am currently looking for some info on the stringer system of the 2000 models. My insurance is claiming dry rot and i am not convinced. I am finding mixed messages on the wood free or the CCA treated wood. Would you be able to provide any information on the subject?

Hi wetone,

I don't think we have any definitive documentation that lists what models had the new Stringer system , but in the'98 Sales brochures, it states that all 18' through 22' models and the 30' offshore were being built with this system.

Another thing, it seems that even Mariah's Foam filled integrated stringer system was not wood free, as seen in the '99 brochure. It appears that wood was still used to reinforce key structural points. As for your issue, it depends on where this so called wood rot is located.
