96 talari Z240 Engine Hatch Lift Help
As the wife and I have been working on our boat, it occurred to us that:
1) The engine hatch was heavy as &#!*
2) In the gallery, other Mariah’s had some sort of lift installed.
We (mostly me...) want to install a lift on the hatch, so my question is, and I hoping moondance100 sees this one, can some one with a similar model please provide me with the measurements for the size of the lift when closed and open and the position of the mounting brackets on the hatch and floor?.
Any pictures would be greatly appreciated as well!
Thanks,
WetWilly
P.S. due to my fat fingers, the title should read Z240 and not 249, sorry....

Ofcourse! I have a 95 z240 so it should be identical. I'll get pictures this weekend and post Sunday.
Getting new disc brakes installed tomorrow on the trailer - stay tuned!

Gotta love this site!!!
First off, MariahMan, thanks for the thread correction, tried to edit the title but I guess once it is submitted, only the contents can be change...gotta put the old fingers on a diet!
Secondly, bdbyrnes, thanks a million for the fast assist, looking forward to the pictures!! You can't believe how tired I'm getting trying to open that hatch!! On the bright side, the previous owner did give us a cool hatch prop... an aluminum crutch, hey, it works... (I’ll make sure it’s in one of my pics for the gallery)
BTW, are you running discs on both axles or just one? I just ordered a galvanized trailer with disc brakes on one axle from a company out here called Pacific Trailers, my first disc brake setup. When we bought the Talari, I was told the existing trailer was a home built but I tracked it down to a manufacture and it turns out it was built in '77 and for a 24' SRV Sea Ray at that... kind of explains why the 240 doesn't quite fit right on the bunks.
Thanks again,
WetWilly

You will LOVE the power lift for the hatch - I've never had to lift manually but it looks heavy.
I am installing the 10" disc brake kit for both axles; Tie Down Engineering. Also the new brake actuator, reverse lockout and new brakes lines. Since I was doing it all I am putting on new aluminum rims and tires.
I was messing with the trailer today and added really nice non-slip surface for above the wheel well and along the front rails.
Once I have it complete I will post pictures.

Hey Willy...I'll get you some pics over the weekend. To be honest...I"m not the cracked up about the power hatch. It is kinda neat, but mine is slow and one side moves faster than the other. Every few weeks or so, I have to unplug one of them and run the other to even things out.
And then there was the fun time I had when the boat had been at the shop and I found out at that launch ramp that the battery was dead as Pavarotti. And with the battery being under the hatch, I had to pull out of the ramp, and attack the back seat with a screwgun to get to the battery!
All things being equal, I'd rather have gas cylinders...ok, I"m better now!!.....that being said...what do you need Willy? Measurements? Pics? maybe a part number?

Hi moondance100,
Sorry for getting back so late, just had surgery and now I’m trying to recover as quickly as possible...
Any pictures of the lifts with the hatch open and the mounting locations would greatly appreciated as well an any reference measurements on the bracket locations and the ram's length open and closed, part numbers and manufacture info would be icing on the cake as well!
Thanks again for your support!
WetWilly

Hi moondance100,
No way would I ever make "fun" of an engine compartment, I like to think of them as "Works in Progress"!
Thanks,
WetWilly
