Most all boats in general use a type of "pan" or box to mount their vents in. These will allow water to drain out without entry into the blower hose. Also, one could raise the level of blower hose 1/2" above the box, that way water has a harder time going into the hose. As for vents, one side will have a "dirty" exhaust air out (pressurized air with possible fuel fumes) and the other will be fresh air in(suction). Later NMMA standards required that the inlet air side have blower hose that reaches into the lower 1/3 of the bilge, but I believe these standards were not in place before Mariah shut down, so you may have a "box" with only holes in it, no hose.
