Re: Electric fuel pump for carbed 350
When carbed engines are shut down, the heat from the engine tends to boil off the fuel in the fuel line and carb causing hot restart problems. By switching to a regulated electric pump, you don't have to wait for the mechanical pump to build up pressure.
As far as a regulator is concerned, I (old school mechanic of 15 yrs) would recommend you add a regulator in line to insure you don't overpressure the needle in the carb.
In the process of converting, route the mechanical pump lines to themselves but leave enough hose length so you can reattach in the original configuration if your electric pump dies in the middle of the lake. Nothing worse than having to get towed in.
