Default First run, awesome, have a question

Needless to say, she is a Mariah and I loved the ride. First time out with it and feeling her out, now I have a couple questions for you pro's!

First off, let me give some details. My Speedo is not working, which I will fix tonight, from the info on WetWilly's #12, so therefore, I couldn't tell you how fast i was going. With myself, my wife and my 2 little girls in the boat. calm waters. boat would come up on plane within 5 seconds, that was great, smooth out and moving very fast. However, my outdrive was in the very lowest position all the time, just as soon as I raised it a little, it would start bouncing, drop it back down and it would smooth out. Any recommendations on how to improve on this?

Do a search on this forum for Smart Tabs.

Your boat is porpoising (bouncing up and down) from a little too much trim. You could try finding that "happy spot" in the trim adjustment, or get some Smart Tabs and you'll love the ride!

If all of your weight was in the rear of the boat, you might find that you don't need any trim at all to get the front of the boat to ride up a bit. If your wife and kids are in the front of the boat, you will probably find that you're plowing too much water and need to trim up to get the best ride.

There is no magic point on the trim gauge that you're "supposed" to trim it to all the time. Trial and error to get the sweet spot. After you get out a bit more with it, you'll find that just by seeing where everyone is sitting in the boat, you will know close to where to set the trim on the gauge. Then feel what the boat is doing and bump the trim either up or down just a touch to fine tune it.

thanks for the info, I will hopefully be able to get out this weekend again and search for the sweet spot. It will be easier if my speedometer is actually working, cleaned out the pickup hole last night, so we'll see.

    thanks
