How many original owners on here?

I have been lurking and reading posts and it seems as if the vast majority of the classic Mariah owners are not the original owners. Because of the age of these classics it is understandable, but that also means a lot of original owners either lost their mind and got rid of these jewels or moved up in size. :D

I have only seen one other who said they owned it since new.

Just wondering how many original owners on here? :wink_thumbup:

Not me. I hadn't even heard of Mariah boats until 7 or so years ago.

I'm the third owner of my boat. First owner decided it was getting to be too much for he and his wife to take out. 2nd owner upsized to a brand new 26' Crownline and now it's mine. Absolutely love it, but I can certainly see eventually upping to a 27' mid cabin

That's 2 of us so far. When I first started looking at the site and hearing all the troubles with switches, flappers letting water into engine, lights not working, etc...... It seemed as most of those were at least 2nd hand owners.

I would love to move up in size too but not sure I want to get rid of mine and take a chance on having all the little issues with one that might not have been cared for as well as mine...... I like to use em not work on em. :wink_thumbup:

I bought mine new Spring of 96. I shopped around a year before I bought it and haven't regretted the decision once.

Just found this site today. I bought mine in 1996. 1996 191 Talari. It's a great boat. The bad part is it has been in my garage for the last 7 years since moving away from the lake. Still only has about 80 hours on it.

You know, I actually used mine more when it was still on the trailer and was stored inside boat storage across town. Now that it is in a slip - I hardly use it.

I bought my 1999 Z302 used from a dealer in 1999 with 20 hrs on it. It was a new boat (demo) that was damaged needing an outdrive and some bottom repair. It was a very good deal! Had it ever since and at the price of new boats will probably keep it for a very long time. It is still like new.

Hi,

Where do you keep your boat in Kingston? We were at Confederation Basin last weekend for Buskers, had a great time! Usually in Kingston 3-4 times a year, love it there

Mine was used, with 12.7 hrs on the dial when I sea trialed her. She has about 90 hrs now. 1997 Z210 Shahbah. The dentist who bought her new didn't go out much.

2000 Shabah 182 Alpha 1 4.3 owned since new, now has 230 hrs.

Still looks/runs like the day we bought her!

Has been in most of the lakes in the midwest!

Still tops out at 52mph on the GPS!

Just normal maintenance--oil/filter changes!

We love this boat!:)

Nearly pulled the trigger in 1994 on a '94 Talari 180 pearl and bimini

The dealer made sure he ordered what I eyeing in the 1995 models that winter down to the color and as soon as I saw it, I was sold!

Still get many compliments in my 15th season!

I wish I could be the original owner of my 93 barchetta 4.3 LX, alpha one. I am the third owner. I have been correcting the previous owners "creativity." I got a great deal and I couldn't be happier. The only way I would part with this is to get a bigger original Mariah.

I am.... 1994 ZC2200.
Loved it till it started to seep from
blisters in the hull.

Plus one on Weezer's post. I'm the second owner of my Z240 Talari. We traded our original 93 SeaRay on her last year. Just knowing how we cared for the Searay makes me wish I could have had the Mariah from new. Just had to let somebody else depreciate it for me before I could afford it.

Re: How many original owners on here?

I am an original owner of a 1996 202 Shabah. I was going to buy a 4 wins, went to a boat show in Las Vegas and met the owners of a mariah dealership in Bullhead City AZ. I had never heard of a Mariah before, but I couldn't beleive the difference between the 4 winns and the mariah. In fact, back in 96, Mariah was very motivated to showcase their boats out west so they made me a fantastic deal, as they were just opening a dealership in Las Vegas. My boat has a 350 mag engine, with a bravo 1 outdrive. Dual batteries, tow cover and a factory installed bimini. Dual axle trailer, surge brakes and chrome wheels.

My only regret is that I wish I bought a bigger one way back when.

Re: How many original owners on here?

I am an original Mariah Jubilee Z21 owner. I bought it from a friend who picked it up at auction in 2000. It was on the factory assembly line when they closed. It needed a few finishing touches and is still missing a couple badges and things that were "borrowed" somewhere along the line.

I just had her waxed and she looked great hitting the lake this year. I am still fighting a contaminated fuel issue from last year and hoping it will make full power a bit more consistently.

Big heavy deck boat with a cruiser hull that handles rough water great. Kids are almost raised so it may be bye bye deck boat in a couple more years.

Re: How many original owners on here?

Hello:
I have a 1995 mariah Talari with a mercruiser 350 4 bbl. Last year when i put in away it ran great. This spring it runs terrible.
When acclearting from a stop, it stalls, sputters, then slowly takes off. I have run the tank down to 1/4, then filled with fresh gas. I have used starbrite product and also sea foam, but no help. Boat accelarates fine from 3000 rpm to 4000 rpm.
Any suggestions? Could it be water in the gas? I also replaced my water seperator.

Re: How many original owners on here?

We bought a 182 Barchetta, 4.3LX, Alpha Gen II in 1994.

It has lived in a (dry - marine railway) boathouse ever since, and it still looks, runs, feels the same as when it was new.

Only really bad thing is the gelcoat. It has a few blisters, and was part of a couple years' of some kind of poor fibreglass quality from Mariah (I haven't looked up any threads about this yet, but I imagine I'm not the only one).

By the time we discovered the bllisters and were all ready to send it back to the factory (they were going to re-do the hull under warranty), the company went bust. Good thing we didn't send it, or our boat may have gone missing in the bankruptcy shuffle.

Because it is always stored dry, the blisters aren't really getting any worse. I've repaired a few of them, but we just ignore the rest and keep using the boat. It is rarely in the water for more than a few hours at a time.

We're on Lake Simcoe in Ontario, Canada.

I'm original owner. I have a 2000 202 Shabah. Any time I consider selling, I realize more and more that I will never be able to replace the quality that I have now.

Re: How many original owners on here?

I am not an original owner, in fact I am a new owner. I have a 1995 shabah Z202 witha 7.4L Bravo III. Is this factory? I have not seen any like it or found any information as to this engine even being an option on this boat. All info I have found says the 5.7L is the biggest option. It all looks factory with the captains call thru hull exhaust but I was just curious if this boat is rated for that engine.

Re: How many original owners on here?

That thing has to fly! You're correct that the brochure shows the 350 MAG as the largest engine for your Z202. In 95 the 350mag was 265 HP. The smallest 7.4 was 300HP. How does she handle with the extra weight(big block is 110lb more) in the engine bay?

Sorry don't get on here often, maybe my mistake. Wife and I bought our Z242 Shabah brand new in 1998. The looks and style still beat the competition to this day, haven't seen any other boats that look good enough to trade her in on. I can't give Mariah a much better compliment than that !

I have to agree with those that say Mariah is a great looking boat.

I just bought my 1999 238 Shabah from my dad. He bought it new, so I did get to drive it when it was new. It only has 81 hours on it now, so it still runs and looks new.

Original owners of a 1995 Talari Z190 4.3 LX. We had a 1971 SRV 180 Sea Ray in mint condition and just needed something a little bigger. We loved the Sea Ray and were really hesitant on buying another boat. Cobalt and Mariah were the only other boats that came close to the Sea Ray. We went with the Mariah and have never regretted it! It still looks new and looks better than any other boat on the water! No one believes it is a 95.

I can’t believe we only just found the Mariah Owners Club in June!!! Great site!!

Re: How many original owners on here?

We are the second owners of our Shabah 180. We bought it from the same dealer/marina that sold it to the original owner new and stored it and maintained it for her.

The original owners have a house on a lake in Wisconsin, but live in California. They came every summer to "The Lake" and wanted a boat to use, so they bought the purple 2000 Shabah 180 new. As the kids grew up they stopped coming to the lake and the boat didn't get used much the last few years and she had the dealer sell it for her. We found it on craigslist, went to see it and fell in love with it!!! She has only about 100 hours on her.
