Faria compass problem

I don't know if I write at the right place, someone could help me...

My boat is a Mariah Z280 MMC, 2000
I have a problem with my Faria compass, model Ritchie DH-0100. When I try to calibrate it, it goes to 225 degree for a while, then make 360 degree. After this it always stay at 225 degree. So it doesn't work. Someone had this problem before?

You wouldn't happen to have any large magnets near the dash would you? I have a 12" Kicker sub right under the compass and now now matter which way I turn I'm always heading north. ;)

So do you have a Faria Compass or a Ritchie Compass? Those are two different manufacturers. The Faria will be a gauge that looks exactly like the rest of the gold gauges, it'll have 4 arrows and will the Mariah Logo in gold on the dial. The Ritchie compass is black and white, protrudes from the dash, and is quite a bit different.

If it's truly a Faria compass, you can most likely send it back to them, they have a lifetime warranty. It'll cost you $40, but you'll have a brand new functioning replacement!

Re: Faria compass problem

Hi,
the gauges is an electronic compass 4" from Faria with the Mariah Logo, it fits with the others gauges. But the sensor itself is a Ritchie DH-0100.

I wrote to Faria Corporation, but it's Ritchie Navigation who answered me. Maybe Faria was sure the problem came from the heading sensor. Ritchie wroteme, they could build me another sensor for 155$, but I'm not sure, it's the bad part.

Thank you!

Last year I believe mine did something similar, spun around and stuck in the same place If memory serves me 225 is where it points when it starts up and initializes. Mine turned towards north and stuck there.

Not sure if it had a richie sensor, but it was $140 to repair through Faria and their lifetime warranty. not $40.

Re: Faria compass problem

You can do everything through Farias website, if memory serves me they had a pretty good drill down look up section to pinpoint your exact model if you dont know, and quote the repair. I got it back in a little over a week.
