Tach not working

I just purchased a 1999 Mariah 2001 Shabah in mint condition. The only problem I have is that the tachometer is not working. Does anyone know of the troubleshooting steps I should go through? I'm not sure if there is a fuse in line I should check. I did not get a owners manual with the boat.

Re: Tach not working

There is a switch on the back to select the # of cylinders. This often gets corroded. Turn it a few times to see if that cleans the contacts. Make sure to set it back to the correct setting for your engine.

Failing that, it could be wiring for the gauge itself. Faria gauges have a lifetime warranty so for a nominal fee you can return it for repair/replacement. There is a contact link for warranty repair on the Faria website.

On my 1998 shabbah 210 my tach seems to read high if you tap it while going it goes up down, every where it shouldn't be. I'm guessing its a tach issue?

Sure does, just do like Z 202 suggested and that should get it working correctly! :wink_thumbup:

I had the same problem on my Shabah 182. Contact Faria via their website and request a repair authorization. They will tell you to send in the faulty Tach and a check for $30.00 and you'll get a repaired or replaced Tach. There is a lifetime warranty on Faria Tach's.
