Power hatch

I read several posts about what to do if your battery died and you had the power hatch. I called the marina to have the boat put in for the first time since winter storage and when I showed up it was sitting in front of their garage with a battery charger on it. (I tried to install an isolater for a second battery and obviously I did something wrong but thats another issue) When I looked inside the shop guy had removed the entire seat to access the engine bay. No bolts or fastners just barely pull on the hatch to get clearance from the seat headrests and presto. I never new that the seat came out like that and have never read that it did on any of these threads. Just put it back and lower the hatch once the battery was charged and that was it. Just thought I would mention it for a quick fix and if this is already posted sorry.

Hi jasfiveo,

Thanks and your right, many of our Mariahs, mine included, have a rear bench which pivots from the front so it is possible to gain access under the hatch in a pinch!

If you have the power lift on your hatch, you should have special bracket at the bottom and a quick release pull pin at the top. The bracket has a short slot allowing the hatch to be lifted several inches. This gives a person enough room to reach under the hatch and pull out the quick release pin connecting the top of the riser unit releasing the hatch and allowing the person to manually lift it.

If you don’t have this bracket, we have a thread on a company that makes one and they should have the quick release pins too. There is also a current thread with the details for fabricating an original bracket.

After much research on this, finding the OEM brackets is a no go. I just got my new one fabbed up and will post results soon. :wink_thumbup:

Re: Power hatch

I once had a mechanic take apart the entire carpeted box that sits around the engine because he didn't realize the bench folded forward. I was pretty disappointed a mechanic couldn't figure that out, but I'm also disappointed in the work he performed... coincidence?!?!
